Inspection & Reports

Buying and owning a lift brings with it duty holder responsibility for safety of both passengers and lift engineers. The Duty Holder is most often classed as the legal owner or lease holder of the building housing the lift.  Legislative requirements can often seem complicated and confusing and will include European legislation, British legislation, Health and Safety legislation, Lifting Regulations, Safety Federation, Codes of Practise, Industry accepted practices, Duty of Care, British Standards, European Standards, etc.

It is important to note that Building Insurance policies will include clauses regarding plant legislative compliance.

Therefore to maintain the lift to a safe and reliable standard it is mandatory to employ the services of specialist lift inspectors to Thoroughly Examine and report on a periodic basis.  This periodic examination and report procedure is in addition to routine servicing and maintenance.

In addition to the above when an Inspector deems it necessary in accordance to recommended examination schemes further Supplementary Testing of safety related equipment is required.

When a major repair or refurbishment is carried out similar stringent re-commissioning and testing is required prior to the lift being returned to service.

Chevron Lifts is certified to act independently to Inspect, Report, carry out Thorough Examination, Test and Commission passenger lifts and goods lifts.

Our Test engineers and Inspectors are familiar with most products including BKG, Brooks, Carlos Silva, Cotswold, Custom, Daldoss, Express, Felesa, Fiam, Foster & Cross, Fujitec, Jackson, Kalea, Kleeman, Kone, Landmark, Liftsource, Microlift, , Minivator, Mitsubishi, Oakland, Omega, Otis, Orona, Schindler, Shorts, SKG, Stannah, Terry, Thyssen Krupp, Vimec, Yukselis and many more.

Thorough Examination & Supplementary Testing of Lifts

Thorough examination is required in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and Safed.  A Thorough Examination is a systematic and detailed examination of a lift and all of its associated equipment by a certified competent person.  Its aim is to detect any defects which are, or might become, dangerous, and for the competent person to report them so they can be subsequently dealt with.  It is compulsory for lift owners to ensure that the lift is maintained to a safe standard.  Chevron Lifts is certified by NQA/Liftcert to carry out Thorough Examinations, Supplementary Testing and certification of lifts in accordance with the LOLER Regulations, the Health & Safety Executive and Safed.  This Notified Body certification ensures that our work is carried out in a professional manner and in accordance with all relevant standards and legislation.  We have competently trained lift specialist engineers with qualifications ranging from chartered status to engineer degree level.
